Present Like a Pro: Webinar Presenter Tips

Share
There’s no doubt we pour time, resources and budget into planning webinars — from logistics to platforms and registration workflows. But are we investing enough in our presenters? Passionate, enthusiastic presenters are the #1 factor behind standout webinars — ahead of tech, content and even audience connection. If you’re presenting, here’s how to set yourself up for success.

What Makes a Great Webinar Presentation

1. Work with your organiser

• Align on the promise: confirm the session summary and key learning outcomes — deliver what registrants were promised.
• Share brief talking points and the “takeaways” attendees will walk away with.
• Proof the registration page to ensure accuracy and expectations.
• Ask registrants what they hope to gain or invite pre-submitted questions so you can tailor content.
• Above all, deliver on what you promise.

2. Consider facilitation and moderation

• A facilitator manages time, launches polls/Q&A, and keeps format lively and engaging.
• Moderators surface the best questions, triage topics and keep pace tight.
• Hold a pre-production call to align roles, run-sheet and interaction cues.
Stat to know: Many viewers prefer sessions where a presenter and moderator work together.

3. Training and testing are key

• Tech check (≈14 days out): test audio, video, backgrounds and platform features with all speakers.
• Test at show-time: check connectivity at the same time of day you’ll present (household bandwidth matters).
• Content run-through: rehearse slides, polls and handovers on the actual platform to catch rendering issues.
• Co-presenting? Rehearse together to smooth transitions and speaking order.

4. Keep it authentic

• Be yourself — warmth and honesty travel well on camera.
• Small stumbles are human; maintain momentum and keep tone conversational.
• Enjoy it — energy and confidence are contagious.
